How do I get a proficiency (or trade) certificate

When you complete the term of your training contract (the employer agrees that you have successfully completed your on the job training), you are eligible to receive a formal certificate from State Training Services.

Which certificate?

 

Proficiency Certificate

This certificate is awarded to apprentices and trainees who successfully complete the term of their training contract  (the employer agrees that you have successfully completed your on the job training) and have been awarded the appropriate qualification by their registered training organisation.

 

Craft Certificate

This certificate is awarded to apprentices who complete the term of their training contract  (the employer agrees that you have successfully completed your on the job training) but have not been awarded the appropriate qualification by their registered training organisation.

 

Completion Certificate

This certificate is awarded to trainees who complete the term of their training contract but have not been awarded the appropriate qualification by their registered training organisation.


Upgrade your certificate

A Craft Certificate or a Completion Certificate can be upgraded to a Certificate of Proficiency.

You need to

  • achieve all the competencies in your training plan
  • receive the appropriate qualification by your registered training organisation.

How to get your certificate

You should get your certificate sent to you automatically once

  • your employer has responded to State Training Services request for confirmation that you have succeeded on the job

and depending on which certificate is to be awarded

  • the registered training organisation has sent you your qualification certificate.  

You will need to contact State Training Services to upgrade your certificate. You will need to supply a copy of the qualification document issued by your Registered Training Organisation.
