Community of Practice in Sustainability launched

VET sustainability practitioners and industry representatives recently came together for the launch of the Community of Practice in Sustainability (COPS) by David Collins, General Manager State Training Services.

The launch featured a presentation on natural resource scarcities in NSW by Ian Dunlop, Chairperson of Safe Climate Australia. There was also a session on the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Education and Training for Sustainability presented by Ruth Walker and Lisa Hoggard, experienced facilitators and graduates from the National Centre for Sustainability.

Participants provided feedback to help plan the future direction of the COPS, including networking events, knowledge sharing opportunities, and high profile guest speakers from the sustainability field. One participant described the packed event as “an exciting opportunity to share knowledge, skills and the training we’ve received.”

Future events and activities through the COPS are planned to be held online, in metropolitan and regional locations. To find out how you can be involved in the COPS, email greenskills@det.nsw.edu.au or call Nanda Almeida 02) 9266 8123 or Brendan Cook on (02) 9266 8027.
