Green Skills and Energy Efficiency Strategy
This Strategy offers subsidised training and support for existing workers and job seekers to upgrade their skill set with green or energy efficiency know-how as part of the Strategic Skills Program. Funding for training in either a part qualification or full qualification is available for training organisations on the DEC Approved Provider List.
Overview
Green skills - often referred to as skills for sustainability - are the skills that increase people's ability to protect or improve the environment in the context of their lives and work.
Energy efficiency skills - an important subset of green skills - are the skills and knowledge about how to lower the demand for energy by delivering the same level of output with less energy input.
Training subsidies are provided under the Strategy for training organisations to deliver green skills and energy efficiency courses to individuals, businesses, government employers and the community within NSW.
Purpose
The purpose of the Strategy is to provide people in NSW with the knowledge and skills to support the transition to a lower carbon and more sustainable economy.
The NSW Government has clear goals in relation to reducing our use of water and resources, preserving the natural environment, avoiding the need for more power stations, improving air quality and making our cities and neighbourhoods more liveable.
Targeted training in skills for sustainability will stimulate new green industries, improve the business bottom line and ensure new technologies work as intended.
People throughout the NSW, in businesses, farms, government, community organisations and educational institutions, can all participate and benefit.
