Who can deliver training
The Retrenched Workers Program is funded under the Strategic Skills Program funding model. Only registered training organisations with an Approved Providers List (APL) Contract for the NSW Training Market for the Strategic Skills Program can deliver training.
Businesses
Where a large business closes or significantly downsizes the NSW Government may convene a Rapid Response Team (RRT). In this instance the local State Training Services Centre and the RRT committee will work with RTOs to develop a training program based on reemployment for the retrenched workers.
Individuals
From time to time individuals who have been retrenched due to the economic downturn will require one-on-one assistance to identify training relevant to reemployment. The local State Training Services Centre will negotiate the appropriate response with an RTO and the individual.
Participant eligibility
To be able to enrol in training purchased through the Retrenched Workers Program, participants must have a letter of retrenchment or similar documentation and have been retrenched after January 1, 2009.
The application process
Businesses or individuals who feel they are eligible for training under the Retrenched Workers Program should discuss with the local State Training Services Centre and/or a local RTO.
