CAPS helps Alex and North Manly Tyres get together
North Manly Tyres (NMT) has a reputation in their local community for excellence in service and attention to detail.
Boasting a comprehensive catalogue of clients and their treasured vehicles, NMT requires a team that is methodical, skilled and reliable.
NMT is owned and operated by Angus Owers who believes "natural talent and the right work ethic" are the mechanics behind the success of his business.
Looking to expand their team, and with encouragement from the Chatswood State Training Services (STS) Centre, NMT registered with the Continuing Apprentices Placement Service (CAPS), a facility provided by STS, part of NSW Department of Education and Training.
Alex, a second year automotive apprentice was out of trade and looking to secure employment within the industry to complete his training and earn proficiency as a qualified mechanic. Work ready and eager to learn, Alex registered with CAPS for assistance.
The CAPS team saw a viable match between Alex and Angus’ business needs and in conjunction with a local Australian Apprenticeships Centre, MEGT, arranged all the paperwork to confirm employment and ongoing training between North Manly Tyres and Alex (on right below). This was achieved in just a few days.
There are currently around 300 apprentices and trainees in skill shortage areas registered with CAPS waiting for assistance.
