Looking for training?

Are you looking for training for skills to get you a job, to get a better job, or to improve your position in your workplace?

You need some vocational training.

There are many many vocational training courses available in NSW.   Some attract a fee for service where you or your employer needs to pay the training organisation.   Some are funded by the State Government under special arrangements where you or your employer may have to just pay the registration fee.

Government funded vocational training

Vocational training is funded if

  • it meets existing or emerging industry skills needs
  • it fills a skills gap - it brings your skill level up to what an employer needs.

Training can be in part or full qualifications.

Training is available to jobseekers and existing workers.  Additional support for people with special needs may be available.

The most obvious form of training that the Government funds is for apprenticeships and traineeships see below.    But you probably didn't know it also funds part qualifications, or skills sets - enough for part of a job, or a specific task, for example:

  • customer service
  • OH&S
  • MIG welding

Get recognition for your existing skills

You think you have some great skills, but you don't have a certificate because you learnt everything at work, not in a training course.

You might be able to get a certificate by having those skills assessed by a training company through a formal process called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Find out more about RPL and do a preliminary check on yourself on our Skills Recognition site.   The site will provide you with a list of registered training organisations that are approved to conduct RPL assessments.
