Changes to Productivity Places Program for 2011-2012

From the 1st January 2011 funding arrangements for the Productivity Places Program (PPP) have been undertaken by a direct purchase model operating under the Strategic Skills Program (SSP).

Under the direct purchase model, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) contracted to deliver under the SSP in 2011-2012 make submissions for funding to their regional STS Centres. The process for making the submissions mirrors the process that RTOs have previously used for making submissions for SSP funding for part qualifications.

This direct purchase model is a departure from the PPP 2009-10 allocation model, where contracted RTOs received fixed allocations of training places for either job seekers and/or existing workers against specific qualifications or Training Package AQF level. Training approved under PPP in 2010 continues under the old conditions and guidelines.

Submissions for SSP funding for full qualifications is assessed on a case-by-case basis by the regional STS Centres. These submissions need to demonstrate how the proposed training addresses current or emerging skills needs. The 2011-2012 NSW Skills Priority List is referenced by regional STS Centre staff as a guide to the qualifications identified as priorities for funding in 2011-2012.

Approval of submissions for funding for full qualifications is subject to the extent of available funding.
