VET FEE-HELP and Smart and Skilled

If students enrol in a government-subsidised Diploma, Advanced Diploma or selected Certificate IV qualification under Smart and Skilled, they may be eligible to access a VET FEE-HELP loan.

VET FEE-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme that helps vocational education and training (VET) students cover the cost of their fees.

Students only need to repay the loan when they reach a defined income level.

Until 1 July 2014 in NSW, VET FEE-HELP was available to eligible students in full-fee-paying Diplomas and above. Under Smart and Skilled, VET FEE-HELP is extended to eligible students in government-subsidised Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas.

A trial until the end of 2016 also extends VET FEE-HELP eligibility to subsidised Certificate IV qualifications in the areas of Disability, Aged Care, Information Technology Networking, Agriculture, and Travel and Tourism.
