Minister Barilaro presents Bert Evans Scholarships

Minister Barilaro presented Bert Evans Scholarships to two local apprentices in recognition of their excellent work and commitment despite hardship at a launch of the NSW Training Awards Illawarra South East at Queanbeyan TAFE on the 26th February 2016.

The Training Awards, which annually recognise excellence in training by apprentices and trainees, were launched by the Minister, who invited Illawarra and South East NSW apprentices and trainees to be nominated for their work.  Local nominees attend interviews regionally, and can then progress onto state and possibly national levels, where they compete for the coveted National Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Awards.
The Bert Evans Scholarships, also awarded annually are worth $5,000 per year for three years assist apprentices dealing with a range of hardship situations.
