28/11/2011 - Stars shine bright at the Australian Training Awards

 

On Friday 25 November the Australian Training Awards gala presentation was held in Brisbane.

NSW had another successful year, with TAFE NSW - Western Sydney Institute winning the Skills for Sustainability - Educational Institution Award. Another NSW winner is Jeanette Allen winning the Leadership in Quality Award and Western College winning the Community Pathways to VET Award. All of these Awards are National Focus Awards.

Equalis Pty Ltd, the NSW Small Training Provider of the Year repeated their show of excellence and were crowned Australian Small Training Provider of the Year.

Joshua Toomey, NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year was selected as the best in the country, winning Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year for 2011.

The NSW Training Awards is immensely proud of these winners and of all finalists that represented NSW at this event.

14/11/2011 - Partnership with ABL Apprenticeships Centre continues in 2012

The NSW Training Awards are delighted to announce that Australian Business Limited Apprenticeships Centre is continuing their partnership as a Principal Partner for the 2012 NSW Training Awards.

ABL Apprenticeships Centre has more than 14 years' experience as a specialist and independent provider of Australian Apprenticeships services in NSW.

The NSW Training Awards appreciates the continued support of ABL Apprenticeships Centre and  look forward to the partnership to recognise the best that NSW has to offer in vocational education and training.

 

24/10/2011 - Australian Training Awards finalists announced

The finalists for the 2011 Australian Training Awards have been announced and NSW will be very well represented.

The NSW winners of most Awards progress onto the Australian Training Awards. All organisations have been judged, while the individuals are considered finalists, with the winner being chosen after face to face interviews during the finalist week.

NSW has the following organisation finalists:

  • Sydney Ferries (Large Employer of the Year Award)
  • Equalis (Small Training Provider of the Year Award)
  • TAFE NSW - New England Institute (Large Training Provider of the Year Award)

The National Focus Award finalists have also been announced. The National Focus categories recognise outstanding contributions towards the attainment of Australia’s national vocational education training system (VET) priorities. In particular, the National Focus categories acknowledge contributions of individuals, schools, businesses and organisations which have had a significant impact on the VET sector.

NSW has finalists in all five National Focus Awards.

  • Essential Energy (Australian Apprenticeships - Employer Award)
  • Southern Cross Vocational College (School Pathways to VET Award)
  • Ms Jeanette Allen (Leadership in Quality Award)
  • Western College (Community Pathways to VET Award)
  • TAFE NSW - Illawarra Institute, TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute and TAFE NSW - Western Sydney Institute (Skills for Sustainability - Educational Institute Award)

After a difficult selection process, the winners of the three Special Industry Awards have been selected. They are:

Excellence in Trades Skills - Nasharna Maskey

Nasharna is undertaking an apprenticeship in Electrotechnology with Betlana Highwall Mining in Singleton.

Phil Darby Memorial Award - Harata Syme

Harata has completed an Engineering - Fabrication apprenticeship with Byrne Trailers Pty Ltd in Wagga Wagga.

Top Apprentice in Vehicle Trades - Bryan McFawn

Bryan completed his Automotive (Light Vehicle Mechanic) apprenticeship with Shine Automotive & Marine in Cundletown.


02/08/2011 - NSW Training Awards proudly welcomes two more sponsors!

The NSW Training Awards is proud to announce the William Angliss Institute, Industry Training Centre Sydney as a new Alliance Partner in 2011.

The William Angliss Institute will sponsor the VET in Schools Excellence Award.

 

William Angliss Institute's Sydney office has recently relocated to Surry Hills and now operates as the Angliss Industry Training Centre. The newly refurbished premise provides industry clients with the flexibility of training staff in a training environment including classrooms and kitchens enhancing the on the job training that is being undertaken. The NSW Training Awards is also proud to announce the Vocational Training Tribunal of NSW as a partner in 2011. The Vocational Training Tribunal of NSW will be sponsoring the School Based Apprentice / Trainee of the Year.

The Vocational Training Tribunal of NSW is a tripartite body with representation from industry and registered training organisations, responsible for the regulation of apprenticeships and traineeships, the recognition of trade skills and the dispute resolution between apprentices, trainees and their employers


01/08/2011 - NSW Organisational State Finalists Announced!

06/06/2011 - Minister to host the 2011 NSW Training Awards

The NSW Training Awards are delighted to announce that the Minister for Education, The Hon. Adrian Piccoli, will continue a long tradition by hosting the 2011 NSW Training Awards. The gala presentation event will be held in the Ballroom, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour on Thursday 15 September 2011.

Over 850 guests from across the vocational education and training sector, as well as business, government and community leaders, will attend the event to announce the finalists and winners in the 16 award categories, and to celebrate and recognise excellence in education and training in NSW.

Our 2010 student winners have watched their careers soar since taking out the top awards last year, with opportunities they never imagined would be available to them. Come along to celebrate with all our finalists and winners - tickets go on sale late July.


12/05/2011 - Record number of nominations received for the 2011 NSW Training Awards!

Over 1050 nominations have been received for the prestigious NSW Training Awards in 2011.  Nominees from all over the state are competing for the top awards in Vocational Education and Training. Gabriella Morona who won the 2010 Riverina Trainee of the Year Award said 'the awards are truly inspiring and provide you with the recognition of all your hard work and training". Gabriella won the 2010 NSW Trainee of the Year Award and also went on to win the 2010 Australian Trainee of the Year Award.
 
All individual nominations are now being assessed by the 11 NSW Regional VET Promotional Committees. All nominees will be contacted by their local region over the next few weeks.
