Funding
State Training Services supports the NSW vocational education and training (VET) industry by strategically funding, or contributing to the funding of vocational training, course development and professional development of trainers. Funding is used to purchase training and other professional service through a variety of programs.
All strategies and programs
- support State Government priorities and directions, and
- are developed with industry and training partners.

Access funding
Training providers must be registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) before applying for funding from the NSW State Training Services.
Registered training organisations have to participate in a tender with the Department of Education and Communities to access funding for training in skills shortage and priority areas.
Other funding may is available for VET developmental purposes. These may be subject to tender or individual submission.
Skills shortages and training priorities
Programs administered under the Approved Providers List (APL) purchase training that specifically meets the State’s skills shortages and training priorities. Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) receive a standard payment to provide training in full or part qualifications under the following programs:
Access to the APL is through a tendering process.
Partnerships, solutions and capability
Finance and consultative services are available to
- support and promote partnerships between industry, employers and training organisations to address vocational training needs in the workplace

Capital grant funding to establish or expand training facilities
If you’re a non profit registered training organisation funding is available which may give you the opportunity to establish or expand your training facility.
Capital grants funding is managed through the Industry and Indigenous Skills Centre Program and is available to establish or expand training facilities or skills centres delivering nationally accredited training in NSW. The funding is for capital expenditure including building refurbishment, alterations and construction, and for the purchase of equipment, computers and furniture to increase VET in NSW.
The Industry and Indigenous Skill Centre program is a separate component of the Commonwealth Infrastructure Program funded through the Commonwealth Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
