Professional development
State Training Services (STS) is committed to quality vocational training that supports the economic and strategic imperatives of the NSW Government.
STS contributes to this by providing training and development to assessors, trainers and registered training organisations so they can deliver quality training and assessment services, and meet the specific information and skills needs of industry and businesses.
Workshops
A range of comprehensive training and development workshops are available for registered training organisations. These focus on:
- Quality Training which aims to build the professional skills and knowledge of trainers and assessors.
- Doing business with STS aims to assist RTOs to work better with STS in relation to their contractual and administrative responsibilities regarding the Training Market and Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
- Industry-specific workshops to equip RTOs to meet the needs of particular industries, sectors or employers, eg energy efficiency and sustainability workshops, skills for the National Broadband Network (NBN) project or revised training packages.
- Regulation and Compliance workshops
As of 1 July 2011 State Training Services no longer provides these workshops as regulation of training organisation registration and compliance has been transfered to ASQA (the Australian Skills Quality Authority), a Commonwealth entity.
Networks support
Trainer and Assessor networks are a valuable platform for professional development and support.
If you are involved or wish to be involved in a network to improve your vocational education and training (VET) professional practice, the State Training Service can help you.
