How to participate in the NSW Training Market

A range of programs are available under the NSW Training Market which provide funds to registered training organisations to support the delivery of vocational training to NSW jobseekers, workers, apprentices and trainees.

Approved Providers List

To participate in these programs registered training organisations must be in contract under the NSW Approved Providers List (APL). The 2011-2012 APL administers:

  • NSW Apprenticeship and Traineeship Training Program (ATTP) - provides funding support for the delivery of training to NSW registered new entrant trainees and apprentices in specific trades and geographic regions
  • NSW Strategic Skills Program (SSP) - provides funding for training that addresses the strategic skill needs of industry, community and individuals. The training targets the up-skilling needs of industry and the existing workforce, and supports employment opportunities for those entering the workforce

To become an approved provider RTOs must tender. The tender for RTOs to apply for a 2011-2012 APL Contract closed on 6 October 2010.

RTOs tendered competitive prices for the delivery of training under the SSP. RTOs cannot tender for an APL contract to participate in this program once the tender has closed.

The prices for training purchased under the ATTP are set by the Department, so organisations who do not tender during the tender open period can apply for an APL contract to participate under the ATTP and at any time throughout the contract period, refer to fact sheet 2.4. RTOs can also add new qualifications to their 2011-2012 APL contract during the contract period.

2011-2012 NSW Training Market Tender Information and Support Resources

A number of information resources were made available to tenderers during the tender open period to assist in preparing and completing the tender. Some of these resources are still accessible below as they provide information which may be useful to RTOs in contract under the 2011-2012 APL.

2011-2012 NSW Skills Priority List

This List identifies the qualifications courses, skills sets and units of competency that have been identified as training priorities in NSW. The 2011-2012 NSW Skills Priority List will be used to guide purchasing under the 2011-2012 Strategic Skills Program.
