Property Services - Traineeships

Date of effect: 28 May 2021

In this new Commissioner's Information Bulletin (CIB) one new Property Services vocation is established and two Property Services vocations are deleted and the associated qualifications are deleted:

The following traineeship vocation is established with an associated qualification pathway:

The following traineeship vocations are repealed and the associated qualifications deleted:

Additionally, industrial instruments are updated to the 2020 version.

All qualifications are found in the CPPv13.1 Property Services Training Package.

All other vocations are unchanged.

Job descriptions

Property Services - Trainees

Certificate IV trainees will work in enterprises, government agencies and community organisations employing home sustainability assessors and in organisations funding home sustainability programs:

  • developing and implementing a sustainability assessment plan
  • evaluating energy and water consumption
  • evaluating the garden and environs
  • evaluating options for waste management
  • providing expert advice on sustainable choices for all of the above (both structural and behavioural change)
  • providing quality customer service on assessment of sustainability
  • maintaining workplace safety in the property industry
  • developing a risk assessment plan for Sustainability Assessors

Certificate III trainees will acquire skills to prepare them to work as an agent's representative in a real estate and/or stock and station agency. Trainees will receive elementary training in the law and practice of selling and leasing property, maintaining workplace safety, meeting customer needs and expectations and using and maintaining property and client information databases.

Certificate IV trainees will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to meet conditions for a real estate agent's licence. Trainees will learn about:

  • the legal liability and responsibility of estate agents
  • real estate accounting requirements
  • the management of client and agency relationships
  • the listing and sale of properties
  • property leasing
  • conduct auctions
  • property management
  • property appraisals and risk management
  • livestock buying and /or selling
  • auctioneering
  • contract development
  • procurement processes
  • monitor building facilities
  • property and merchandise sales
  • arranging finance and insurance
  • pastoral inspections
  • stud stock or wool
    Successful completion of specified units of competency will qualify the trainee for a stock and station agent's licence.

Upon Successful completion of specified units of competency will qualify the trainee for a strata managing agent's licence.

Certificate III trainees will work as part of a strata community management team and will assist with the administration of strata communities by facilitating meetings of strata community members, monitoring the condition of building facilities and maintaining financial records associated with the management of strata communities.

Certificate IV trainees will work independently but may operate as part of a strata community management team. In this role the trainee will perform functions associated with the administration of strata communities, including facilitating meetings of strata community members, administering insurance for strata communities, handling strata community funds, as weel as maintaining business records and reporting on the financial activities of strata communities.

Property Services - Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability - Traineeship

CPP31519 Certificate III in Real Estate Practice
The term for a school based traineeship will be calculated in months from the date of commencement to 31 December of the HSC year. During this period the school-based trainee must undertake a minimum of 100 days of on-the-job training.

Property Services - Strata Community Management - Traineeships

  • CPP30416 Certificate III in Strata Community Management
    • 12 months or until the relevant competencies are achieved
  • CPP40516 Certificate IV in Strata Community Management
    • 24 months or until the relevant competencies are achieved
  • CPP40516 Certificate IV in Strata Community Management where the trainee holds CPP30416 Certificate III in Strata Community Management
    • 18 months or until the relevant competencies are achieved
