Transport Concession Entitlement Card changes

old cardThe current Indentured Apprentice/Trainee NSW Transport Concession Card has been discontinued and replaced by a new-style Transport Concession Entitlement Card. The new card will enable the holder to access concession fares on all public transport up until 31 March of the following year (Note: subject to continued eligibility). A new application will need to be lodged each year.

new cardIf you currently hold an Indentured Apprentice/Trainee NSW Transport Concession Card you will need to apply for the new Transport Concession Entitlement Card before 30th June 2017. You will need to do this even if the printed expiry date on your current card is after that date. Without a Transport Concession Entitlement Card and Concession Opal Card you are required to pay for and travel with an Adult fare. You can apply to get the new card NOW.


Eligibility

To be eligible for a Transport Concession Entitlement Card as an apprentice or trainee you must:

  • be registered with Training Services NSW as an apprentice or new entrant trainee; and
  • continue to be in an active apprenticeship or new entrant traineeship approved by Training Services NSW.

Entitlements

Sydney and surrounding areas - Opal network

  • With a Transport Concession Entitlement Card and Concession Opal Card you pay concession fares on trains, buses, most ferries and light rail.

Regional NSW - outside Opal network

  • With a Transport Concession Entitlement Card you pay concession fares on local bus services.

How to apply for the Travel Concession Entitlement Card


Concession Opal Card

To travel and access concession fares on public transport in the Sydney metropolitan area and surrounding areas (Opal network) you will need to apply for a Concession Opal Card. Once you have been approved for a Transport Entitlenment Concession Card, you can apply for the Concession Opal Card online.
