Apprentices facing financial hardship while pursuing trade qualifications can apply for a Bert Evans Apprentice Scholarship. Scholarships are worth $5,000 per year for up to 3 years. Applications closed on Tuesday 30th May 2017.

New Transport Concession Entitlement Card for apprentices and trainees

If you are a NSW apprentice or new-entrant trainee, there is a new proof of entitlement card for public transport concession fares. The Transport Concession Entitlement Card is replacing the Indentured Apprentice/Trainee NSW Transport Concession Card. You need to apply for the new card before 30th June 2017.

Tyrone Pynor sees his school based traineeship with the National Bank as "an opportunity to gain the skills to make real decisions about my choice of career path". As part of the team at NAB's Merrylands branch, he excelled in all aspects of banking services including customer assitance and gaining an understanding of all the financial products and services offered. Looking ahead Tyrone declared "my future has never looked brighter".

Eligibility under Smart and Skilled will be extended from 1 January 2017 to further categories of humanitarian visas held by asylum seekers and refugees. Eligible visa holders will not pay course fees for their Smart and Skilled training up to Certificate IV level.
