Updated Smart and Skilled Fee Administration Policy 2017 now available

The Smart and Skilled Fee Administration Policy 2017 [Pdf 734KB] has been updated. Version 1.3 is now available and includes the following amendments:

  • A Provider, or a related entity or organisation, must not pay the student fee on behalf of a student unless the Provider is also:
    • the student's employer; or
    • is a provider of government-funded employment services (Jobactive) and the student is a client.

Training providers are prohibited from paying the fee on the student's behalf in any other circumstance.

The Provider must retain student fees that it collects or evidence that either of the two conditions above were met.

  • Training providers must sight or collect documentation from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection acknowledging application for a humanitarian visa where an individual is a Bridging Visa and is seeking to enrol in Smart and Skilled as an asylum seeker.
