Careers Australia Education Institute Pty Ltd

Training Services NSW is aware that Careers Australia Education Institute Pty Ltd (Careers Australia) has entered into voluntary administration. The company has stopped delivering all courses. Careers Australia is not a Smart and Skilled provider, and assistance to affected students is being offered by TAFE Directors Australia (TDA).

Support for students/apprentices

If you are an affected apprentice, please contact Training Services NSW on 13 28 11.

You can also contact your Australian Support Network Provider or call Australian Apprenticeships Referral on 13 38 73 for details of your Network Provider if you are unsure who this is.

FEE-HELP, VET FEE-HELP and VET Student Loans

A tuition assurance scheme has been put in place by the Government to support and protect students. TAFE Directors Australia (TDA) administers the Tuition Assurance Scheme for Careers Australia's FEE-HELP, VET FEE-HELP and VET Student Loans students.

For FEE-HELP students, the tuition assurance scheme can help you complete your course at another provider, or request to have your FEE-HELP debt remitted for commenced but uncompleted units of study.

For VET FEE-HELP students, the tuition assurance scheme can help you complete your course at another provider, or request to have your VET FEE-HELP debt remitted for commenced but uncompleted units of study.

For VET Student Loans students, the tuition assurance operator will seek to match and offer you a similar, replacement course. If there is no similar course available, you may be eligible for fee-repayment.

TAFE Directors Australia will make arrangements for you to exercise your rights under tuition assurance. If you have any questions, you can contact TAFE Directors on (07) 3307 4789 or by email: TDA@tafe.qld.edu.au. You can also contact the Commonwealth Department of Education and Training on 1800 020 108.

VET in Schools

If a 'VET in Schools' secondary student has undertaken VET at school and has taken out a VET FEE-HELP or a VET Student Loan, TAFE Directors Australia will provide assistance. In other cases, support for students would be expected to be available through their schools and parents.

Full fee paying students

If you have prepaid fees of more than $1,500 to Careers Australia, the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 require that the provider has an approved scheme to protect those prepaid fees. Only where the fees have been paid in advance of completing the training, would tuition assurance apply. You should contact the TAFE Directors Australia call centre on (07) 3307 4789 or email: TDA@tafe.qld.edu.au to register your details and to determine if Tuition Assurance Scheme coverage applies.
